Closing Gaps In Wound Care

At FWAE, we make quality wound care knowledge and resources accessible to all. Through education, guidance, and support, we empower patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to improve healing, reduce complications, and lower healthcare costs.

Having a wound requires specialized care that goes beyond treatment in order to give patients the quality of life they deserve.

Turning knowledge into healing

Why Our Mission Matters

Every year, chronic wounds affect nearly 7 million Americans and contribute to more than $25 billion in healthcare costs. Yet many individuals—especially older adults and those with limited access to care continue to face significant barriers, including:

  • High Costs often stand in the way of treatment.
  • Limited Access due to distance and transportation issues.
  • Provider Shortages that cause delays and even lack of care.
  • Health Literacy & Information Gaps prevent effective wound care management and healing.
  • Underserved Populations and minority groups who experience poorer outcomes.

Founded To Transform Wound Care

The Foundation for Wound Care Access & Education (FWAE) exists to make wound care knowledge, resources, and support accessible to everyone. Many patients and caregivers struggle to manage wounds safely at home due to gaps in education or challenges navigating the healthcare system.

FWAE provides education, personalized guidance, referral support, and access to essential supplies, helping patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals navigate wound care with confidence. Our mission is to make wound care support clearer, more compassionate, and easier to access for all.
